Getting started

What is evenpup?

evenpup keeps track of shared costs in a group (a trip, a flat, a family) and works out who owes who. When it's time to settle up, it gives you PayNow QR codes so everyone can pay straight from their own bank app. You can also use it just for yourself, to see where your money goes.

Is it free?

Yes. evenpup is free to use during the beta.

Does everyone in the group need the app?

No. You can add people as names and invite them whenever you like. Expenses and balances work either way; people only need evenpup to see the group themselves or add expenses.

How do I get evenpup on my phone?

Open app.evenpup.com on your phone. On iPhone, tap Share, then "Add to Home Screen" so it opens like an app, with notifications and Face ID. On Android, your browser will offer to install it.

Splitting and settling up

How do I split an expense?

Tap + Expense, enter the amount and what it was for, choose who paid, and who it's split between: equally, by percentage, by exact amounts, or by parts.

How does settling up work?

Tap Settle up in a group. evenpup lists who pays who. Whoever is owed sends their PayNow QR to whoever pays; the payer scans it in their bank app (PayNow → Scan QR), checks the name it shows, and pays. Then tap "I've paid" or "Mark as received" so everyone's balances update.

Does evenpup handle my money?

No. evenpup never holds, sends or receives money. Every payment is made by you, in your own bank app, directly to the other person. Always check the name your bank app shows before you pay.

Can I use other currencies?

Yes. An admin adds a currency to the group, and evenpup suggests today's reference rate (you can change it). Amounts are converted into the group's main currency. PayNow QR codes work for groups in SGD.

What's a kitty?

A shared pot. Everyone chips in with one person, and shared costs (say, meals on a trip) are paid from it. Whatever is left comes back through the normal settle-up.

Privacy and security

Who can see what I write?

What you write about expenses (descriptions, notes and categories) is encrypted on your phone before it's sent, so only you and your group can read it. Not even evenpup can. Amounts and names aren't hidden from us, because evenpup needs them to work out who owes who. More in our privacy policy.

Does evenpup track my location?

No. evenpup never uses your location. When a group looks like a trip, it may show a picture of where it guesses you are, worked out on your phone from the group's currencies and the words in its expenses. It's only a guess, nothing about it is sent to us, and you can hide it.

Is my PayNow number safe?

It's encrypted, never shown to others in full, and only appears inside the QR codes people scan to pay you. Adding or changing it needs your evenpup passcode or Face ID.

I forgot my evenpup passcode

Go to You → Forgot passcode. We'll email you a code to confirm it's you, then you can set a new one.

I got a new phone and some notes say "Locked"

If you turned on Face ID on your old phone, sign in with Face ID to unlock everything. Otherwise, older descriptions unlock by themselves once someone else in each group opens evenpup, which shares the group's key with your new phone.

Your account

How do I delete my account?

In the app: You → Delete my account. Or email hello@evenpup.com. Your account, email, photos and PayNow number are removed. Expenses you shared with a group stay with that group, under the name you used there, so everyone else's balances still add up.

Can I download my data?

Yes. In any group: settings → Records → Download a statement, as a PDF or an Excel file. For anything else, email us.
